OPCO's manufacturing facility is located in the Western Pennsylvania town of Latrobe. Although small, the town boasts of many notable accomplishments, including being the home of Arnie Palmer, the famous golfer, and Fred Rogers, star and creator of the children's show, "Mr. Rogers Neighborhood." the nation's first professional football team was formed there. It is with this same spirit of commitment to quality and achievement that OPCO is run.
When OPCO first opened for business in 1987, it was run by two partners in a 4,000 square foot facility. Today, OPCO is incorporated, occupies 100,000 square feet and employs 20 people.
What first began as a retail sales outlet for EPS foam sheets soon led to providing construction insulation primarily for the roofing industry. As the volume of sales grew, OPCO began molding its own foam billets and installed a high volume slabbing and cutting line. Growth in demand for EPS packaging prompted the purchase of enhanced facrication and cutting equipment. OPCO's larger facility allowed us to stock materials for JIT ("just-in-time") customers.
OPCO's goals for the future include enhancing our fabrication capabilities to produce custom packaging. Although a large portion of our business is in EPS, we plan to invest in equipment that will give us greater flexibility to use other materials for packaging solutions.
OPCO has produced foam for numerous applications. To give you an idea of our flexibility and willingness to work with our customers to meet their specific needs, here is a list of a few of our favorite projects:
